I interrupt this blog to bring you some really important information…
Did you know that if you change your social media icons (to pretty ones to match your blog), you can lose your ability to have a social media page all together?
AND…
Did you know that you can be kicked off of Pinterest for putting things into the wrong boards?
Its true! A good blogging friend of mine shared with me tonight that she was kicked off of Pinterest for two days because someone marked one of her pins as spam.
How did this happen?
If you pin to a group board (I have a group board called Saving Money, where I share pins about saving money for your family) and someone from that board pins something that is NOT related to the group name, they can be spammed.
So, if someone posted a craft tutorial on the Saving Money Board and someone marks it as SPAM, they could easily be kicked off of Pinterest!
This is really scary, if you are a blogger, because you know how important Pinterest is for helping to spread your blogging word.
The GOOD news behind this: she said that Pinterest has a great customer service and they are helping her to try to resolve the issue and get her back onto Pinterest.
THE ICONS: I also recently read an article about a blogger being kicked off of Etsy for changing her Facebook social media icon image from the standard one to a fancier icon that matched her page (she also sold social media icons on Etsy).
UPDATE FROM COMMENTS: You can change Google+ to match your colors, but that’s it.
The moral of this article is to make sure that you are very aware of the rules of the social media sites because as quickly as we were on there, we can be kicked off of them.
I was surprised about both of these stories and knew that I had to share them with you today.
